Pantherlily

His head is that of a black panther's, but with a white muzzle and a scar going down across his left eye. Like his fellow commanders (except Hughes), he wears a personal set of battle armor with a long cape draped around his body, as well as a helmet vaguely similar to that of Lyon Vastia. However, when he reached Earth Land, he took a form which is more typical for Exceeds, as a small, bipedal black cat with round ears. His facial features are retained, albeit in a super-deformed manner. Although he can return to his former form, he can only do so for a very limited amount of time. His guild tattoo is on his back in the same place as Happy's, and is gray in color. Personality Pantherlily seems to have a grumpy disposition and detests noisy people. He first appears by demanding that Byro and the hyperactive Hughes quiet down (Although Sugarboy noted that Pantherlily was in a nastier mood than usual). He also seemed to have reservations about Operation ETD, unlike the other commanders. This was presumably because he did not want his own race to be destroyed, despite the fact that he had also said that Extalia was a fake country, one he discarded a long time ago. However, Lily is on good terms with Mystogan as he saved the young prince from death when he was younger. Pantherlily does not discriminate against Exceeds or humans and treats them as equals, unlike the Exceeds in Edolas who viewed themselves as superior to the humans.
According to his Guild Card, Pantherlily likes kiwi and hates thunder (the latter of which can be seen in his time on Tenrou Island). He also seems to have a penchant for oversized weapons, as shown from his handling of the Bustermarm Sword and his liking for the Musica Sword. HistoryEdit Pantherlily's "betrayal" Pantherlily was once an Exceed that lived in Extalia and worked for Extalia's army. One day he saved the Prince of Edolas from a certain danger. However, his act of bringing the young prince to Extalia was considered as an act of betrayal by the elders, who labelled Pantherlily as a 'Fallen or Traitor' and exiled him from Extalia immediately. After these events, Pantherlily started to live in the human world with Mystogan. He trained himself and joined the Royal Army of Edolas as the Royal Captain of the 1st Magic War Division.

Carla

Carla (シャルル Sharuru) is an Exceed, the daughter of Queen Shagotte, and a close companion to Wendy Marvell. She and Wendy belonged to Cait Shelter guild before joining Fairy Tail. Carla is a small, white Exceed with pink ears and brown eyes, which are smaller than Happy's eyes. She also has two whiskers on each side of her face. Carla wears a pink bow near the end of her tail. Carla's usual top consists of a mustard yellow and pink top with a pink bow tie. She wears a pink skirt with this top. Carla, like other characters, seems to switch outfits every arc. When Carla uses Magic, she sprouts two angelic-like wings to fly. Her pink Guild Mark is located on her back. Personality Unlike the carefree Happy, Carla is very strict and serious most of the time, rarely showing emotions. She cares about Wendy like a mother. She was at first very aloof, turning her nose up at seemingly everyone save for Wendy. She also tries to get Wendy to shy away from her timid personality, scolding her often for it (which is ironic considering she's not very sociable herself). As she learns about her mission as an Exceed, she is shocked and sad. She displayed a troubled look when she thought about her mission, later revealed to be a prophecy involving Extalia's demise due to her ability to see the future which she inherited from her mother. Happy instantly took a liking to her from the moment they met, but she at first despises him. Later, when they learn the "truth" of the mission he defends her by saying they are Mages of Fairy Tail, not puppets, and she starts accepting him after seeing his determination to save their friends as well as from seeing him showing a more serious and brave side (earlier she refereed to him as male cat and ignored his gifts in form of fish). Happy saved Carla when they escaped and she almost fell out of a wagon, and she in turn saved him from the Edolas Royal Army soldiers by taking a direct blast aimed for him. She also has no doubts and extreme confidence when Happy flies off on his own. When Lily was mentioned as being the strongest out of their group, she put up a smirk and tempted Happy into having a match against him. In recent chapters, she has been shown to smile more, usually with Happy near by, danced with him when he asked, and even laughed when Happy pointed out Lily's cute side. Her Guild Card also told that she likes Darjeeling Tea and doesn't like tomcats.

Happy from fairytail

Happy is a small blue Exceed with a white underbelly. He has a rectangular head, with pink ears, big black eyes with small, thin eyebrows, and white cheeks marks near to his tiny whiskers (two in each side of his face). Happy has a triangular nose that leads to semi-round upper lips on the sides. Happy's body is rectangular too, and being an Exceed, it has a structure that allows him to walk erect unlike normal cats. Despite having no thumbs, Happy is able to hold things. He has a long tail, that's white in the end and other parts of his tail are blue, that can be used to hold things too.Happy is usually seen carrying around a green backpack, where he keeps food and items that can be used on battle. This backpack also covers his green Guild Mark that is on his back. When using his Magic, he can grow a pair of large, feathered, angel-like wings that allow him to fly around and carry others. Happy usually doesn't wear clothes, the only few times were during the Fantasia Parade, to disguise himself in Edolas, and when his parents gave him clothes. Personality Despite his small stature and eccentric look, Happy is very loyal to his teammates and fellow guild members and has a fairly large knowledge of the magic world (on some cases, more than Lucy and Natsu). Given that he was around Natsu Dragneel since his birth, Happy often emulates Natsu in his actions and responses. He is quick-witted and cheeky, especially to Lucy Heartfilia; however, Happy sometimes shows his little bit of dark nature, especially when making a comment on the devastating aspects of the magic of his comrades. He loves fish and he doesn't like dogs (except for Plue). He offers a comic relief with his catchphrase, "Aye!". Happy believes that Lucy and Loke are a cute couple and tends to roll his tongue when he teases Lucy about it. He holds a strange attraction to Exceed like himself and drools on Loke's shoulder when he finds out that Loke is a lion. Happy has also developed a strong affection towards Carla, another Exceed who at first blows him off, but then begins to respect him.

Tom and Jerry

Tom and Jerry is a series of theatrical animated cartoon films created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, centering on a never-ending rivalry between a cat (Tom) and a mouse (Jerry) whose chases and battles often involved comic violence (despite sometimes they become allies to defeat a 'greater enemy' such as Spike the dog). Hanna and Barbera ultimately wrote and directed one hundred and fourteen Tom and Jerry shorts at the MGM cartoon studio in Hollywood between 1940 and 1957, when the animation unit was closed. The original series is notable for having won the Academy Award for Animated Short Film seven times, tying it with Walt Disney's Silly Symphonies as the theatrical animated series with the most Oscars. A longtime television staple, Tom and Jerry has a worldwide audience that consists of children, teenagers and adults, and has also been recognized as one of the most famous and longest-lived rivalries in American cinema. In 2000, TIME named the series one of the greatest television shows of all time.
Beginning in 1960, in addition to the original 114 H-B cartoons, MGM had new shorts produced by Rembrandt Films, led by Gene Deitch in Eastern Europe. Production of Tom and Jerry shorts returned to Hollywood under Chuck Jones's Sib-Tower 12 Productions in 1963; this series lasted until 1967, making it a total of 161 shorts. The cat and mouse stars later resurfaced in television cartoons produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions and Filmation Studios during the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s; a feature film, Tom and Jerry: The Movie, in 1992 (released domestically in 1993); and in 2001, their first made-for TV short, Tom and Jerry: The Mansion Cat for Boomerang. The most recent Tom and Jerry theatrical short. The Original version of the Tom and Jerry theme song was written by the Uncle Dave Macon AKA the Dixie Dewdrop southern banjo player and songwriter The Karate Guard (2005), was written and co-directed by Barbera. Today, Time Warner (via its Turner Entertainment division) owns the rights to Tom and Jerry (with Warner Bros. handling distribution). Since the merger, Turner has produced the series Tom and Jerry Tales for The CW's Saturday morning "The CW4Kids" lineup, and a string of Tom and Jerry direct-to-video films — all in collaboration with Warner Bros. Animation.

Simba

Simba is a title character and the protagonist of Disney's most successful animated feature film, The Lion King. He is the son of Mufasa and Sarabi, nephew of Scar and Zira, mate of Nala, and father of Kiara and Kopa (Kopa is only seen in the books "The Lion King: Six New Adventures"). He has golden fur and when he grows into an adult, he has an auburn mane. The name "Simba" comes from the Swahili word for lion. The Lion King and The Lion King II: Simba's Pride are the 2 movies Beyond the films Books In a set of books titled The Lion King: Six New Adventures, released shortly after the original The Lion King film was released, Simba has a son named Kopa, a gold-coloured cub with a brown tuft of fur on his head. No reference is made to Kopa in The Lion King II: Simba's Pride which was released after the books were published. That indicates the cub at the end of the original The Lion King is intended to be Kiara. TV series
Simba makes occasional brief appearances in the Timon and Pumbaa TV animated series. This includes one episode in which Timon drags him out to try to revive Pumbaa's lost memory. In the episode "Congo On Like This," Timon and Pumbaa suspect that Simba has reverted back to his carnivorous nature. The episode "Shake Your Djibouti" features Simba again where Timon and Pumbaa are forced to train Simba to protect them from a laboratory monster. Another episode entitled "Rome Alone" sees Simba being captured by Romans, and forced into gladiatorial battle with another lion called Claudius. Simba also appears in a music video of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" starring Timon and Pumbaa. Simba was featured as one of the guests in the animated series House of Mouse where he tends to alternate between cub and adult versions. Disney parks Live versions of Simba also appear in the Lion King musical and in the parades and shows at the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. Simba was also the main character in "Legend of the Lion King," a former Fantasyland attraction in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, which retold the story of the film using fully articulated puppets. Other Disney attractions that have featured Simba include the Mickey's PhilharMagic 3D show and the Hong Kong Disneyland version of It's a Small World. Video games In the video games based on the films, Simba is usually the main playable character. Simba also features in the Nintendo DS video game Disney Friends as a cub.

Tigger

Tigger is a fictional tiger-like character originally introduced in A. A. Milne's book The House at Pooh Corner. Like other Pooh characters, Tigger is based on one of Christopher Robin Milne's stuffed animals. Nowadays he is most widely recognized as reinterpreted by the Disney studios, with distinctive orange and black stripes, beady eyes, a long chin, springy tail, and (the one detail originating from A. A. Milne) his love of bouncing. As he says himself, "Bouncing is what Tiggers do best."
In film Tigger also appears in the Disney cartoon versions of the Winnie-the-Pooh stories, beginning with Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day in 1968. He has even starred in his own film, The Tigger Movie (Disney, 2000), along with his friends from the Hundred Acre Wood. Tigger was originally voiced by Paul Winchell. Since 1990, he has been voiced by Jim Cummings (who is also the voice of Pooh), with the exception of Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin (1997), A Winnie the Pooh Thanksgiving (1998), and Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine For You (1999), in which Winchell reprised the role of Tigger. On some albums and read-along cassettes in the early 1990s, Ed Gilbert voiced Tigger. Also, Will Ryan voiced Tigger in the Disney Channel program Welcome to Pooh Corner. In the movies, Tigger sings his own theme song, "The Wonderful Thing about Tiggers", written by the Sherman Brothers. According to the song, Tigger is "the only one" — a fact that leads to his search for his family in The Tigger Movie. In The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and subsequent cartoons, Tigger lives in a large treehouse. A tire swing hangs prominently from a branch of the tree. In The Tigger Movie, Tigger builds a makeshift addition (gluing the shingles on with honey) in anticipation of a hoped-for visit by members of his family. This "family room" is eventually relocated to serve as a replacement for Eeyore's collapse-prone house of sticks. The Disney version of Tigger was featured in both the TV special Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue and the TV series House of Mouse. Tigger has appeared in the Mad episode "Pooh Grit" (a parody of True Grit), where Christopher Robin hires Marshall Pooh to capture Tigger after he bounced his father. He was voiced by Fred Tatasciore. Then in the next episode "Fast Hive" (a parody of Fast Five), Tigger was part of Pooh's team to get honey. He and Piglet fly out of the book and end up in The Very Hungry Caterpillar, where the caterpillar gives them some honey. In this episode he was voiced by Kevin Shinick.

The Itchy & Scratchy Show

The Itchy & Scratchy Show is a show within a show in the animated television series The Simpsons. It usually appears as a part of The Krusty the Clown Show, watched regularly by Bart and Lisa Simpson. Itself an animated cartoon, The Itchy & Scratchy Show depicts an anthropomorphic blue mouse, Itchy (voiced by Dan Castellaneta), who repeatedly kills an anthropomorphic black cat, Scratchy (voiced by Harry Shearer). The cartoon first appeared in the Tracey Ullman Show short "The Bart Simpson Show", which originally aired November 20, 1988. The cartoon's first appearance in The Simpsons was in the 1990 episode "There's No Disgrace Like Home". Typically presented as 15-to-60-second-long cartoons, the show is filled with over-the-top violence. The Simpsons also occasionally features characters who are involved with the production of The Itchy & Scratchy Show, including Roger Meyers, Jr. (voiced by Alex Rocco and Hank Azaria), who runs the studio and produces the show.

Itchy and Scratchy are based on the cartoons Tom and Jerry and Herman and Katnip, and their names were inspired by "Pixie and Dixie", who were mice on the cartoon show Pixie and Dixie and Mr. Jinks. The cartoons have since become popular among the show's writers and animators and are often added when an episode needs expanding. As the shorts became popular with fans, the writers decided to have full episodes that centered around the production of The Itchy & Scratchy Show and featured multiple shorts. The first was "Itchy & Scratchy & Marge" (season two, 1990), which was a commentary on censorship. Other episodes to feature the show include "Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie" (season four, 1992), "The Front" (season four, 1993), "Itchy & Scratchy Land" (season six, 1994), "The Day the Violence Died" (season seven, 1996) and "The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show" (season eight, 1997).

Penelope Pussycat

Penelope Pussycat is a fictional character, an anthropomorphic cat featured in the Warner Bros. classic Looney Tunes animated shorts. Though typically a non-speaker, her "meows" and "purrs" were most often provided by Mel Blanc using a feminine voice. In the 1959 short "Really Scent", she was voiced by June Foray. As of 2009, her only real speaking role was in the 1995 short Carrotblanca where she was voiced by Tress MacNeille. It can be postulated with the inconsistencies in her naming that every sighting of her is simply a random black cat until 'Penelope' was named on screen in Carrotblanca using the black cat animation.

Character history and personality

Penelope Pussycat is best known as the often bewildered love interest of Looney Tunes' anthropomorphic skunk, Pepé Le Pew. Penelope is a typical black and white pussycat, though by some means or another, she often finds herself with a white stripe down her back, whether painted intentionally or by accident.

She often finds herself constantly being chased by the overly enthusiastic Pepè, but when the occasion has presented itself, Penelope has been portrayed as the pursuer. "For Scent-imental Reasons", "Little Beau Pepe" and "Really Scent" have all shown Penelope to harbor an attraction to Pepe whenever his scent is neutralized (though in each cited instance, extenuating circumstances have caused Pepe to become repulsed by her, inciting Penelope to reverse the roles). In more recent years, merchandising from Warner Bros (such as ornaments, glass wear, statuettes and children's activity books) has portrayed Penelope and Pepe as mutually attracted "sweethearts", though other modern media (such as The Looney Tunes Show and the current Looney Tunes comic book series) has maintained their classic "chasing" relationship.

Heathcliff

Heathcliff (also known as Heathcliff and The Catillac Cats) is an animated television series that debuted on September 5, 1984. It was the second series based on the Heathcliff comic strip and was produced by DIC Entertainment. It ran in syndication until 1988 with a total of 86 episodes. The first show based on the comic strip was Heathcliff and Dingbat, which debuted in 1980 and was produced by Ruby-Spears. Mel Blanc provided the voice of Heathcliff in both series.

Characters

Heathcliff: Title character, he is an orange street smart cat , who spends most of his time trying to turn a dustbin over onto people's heads. Heathcliff is a real street cat who loves to fight anyone and everyone and will lie, cheat and steal to get himself some food, but beneath it all, he's a good guy. Heathcliff is voiced by Mel Blanc.
Sonja: Heathcliff's love, a fluffy white Persian cat, who wears a pink collar. Heathcliff is always trying to win Sonja over, although generally she is not usually too impressed with Heathcliff's antics as she is a far classier type of cat. Sonja is voiced by Marilyn Lightstone.
Knuckles: Dress in a pink hat and a red-and-black striped shirt, Knuckles and his henchman are not really Heathcliff's enemies—more like a group of cats that he constantly annoyed and/or bullied. More often than not they were after him, because he had tried to trick them in some way. Knuckles is voiced by Derek McGrath.
Spike: Probably the closest thing to a nemesis that Heathcliff had, Spike was no-where near as clever as Heathcliff—all brawn and no brains. Spike is owned by a neighborhood bully called Muggsy. Heathcliff was quite able to handle both of them when necessary. Spike is voiced by Derek McGrath.
Iggy Nutmeg: Heathcliff's owner who lived with his grandparents. Iggy sometimes takes Heathcliff to strange places and new locations for adventures. Iggy is voiced by Donna Christie.
Marcy: A small girl who lived in the same neighborhood as Iggy's family. Marcy always saw the best in Heathcliff and thought he was a little angel. She also loves to have Heathcliff ride in her baby doll carriage, which for the most part Heathcliff is more than happy to oblige. Marcy is voiced by Jeannie Elias.

The Catillac Cats

A gang of cats that played alongside Heathcliff. When Riff-Raff is not around, the Catillac Cats are sometimes helping Heathcliff in some adventures or sometimes tease him only to be pounded to the pavement. They drive a very cool Cadillac which could transform into an airplane and a boat and lived in a junkyard.

Riff-Raff: The boss, lived in a crashed plane on top of a junk-pile while using a trapdoor for an exit. He is a small orange cat with a large white cap. Riff-Raff is voiced by Stanley Jones.
Cleo: Riff-Raff's love interest, most episodes focused around Riff-Raff trying to woo her. She lives in a musical instrument shop with Bush. She had a 1980s-hairstyle and leg warmers. Cleo is voiced by Donna Christie.
Hector: Second-in-command, sometimes wanted to be leader. His colors are a mix between brown and dark brown. Hector wore a headband and a long neck-tie and drove around a convertible Catillac/Van along with the gang. Hector is voiced by Danny Mann.
Wordsworth: is a white cat that Rode on roller-skates, spoke in rhyme and always wore a yellow Walkman. Wordsworth is voiced by Stanley Jones.
Mungo: Big, clumsy and not the sharpest tool in the box. He is a large cat with unique purple/blue/grey fur that wears a red sweater and a matching red cap. The name was used to show similarity between him and the character with a similar name from Mel Brooks' Blazing Saddles. Mungo is voiced by Ted Zeigler.
Leroy: Guard dog who lives in the junkyard with the Catillac Cats. Leroy is voiced by Ted Zeigler
Bush: A loyal sheepdog who lived with Cleo in the music shop. Unfortunately due to his bushy hair-do, most of the time when Riff-Raff would break in to take Cleo out, Bush would end up running into various musical instruments trying to stop him. Bush is voiced by Danny Wells.

Arlene

Arlene is a character in the Garfield comic strip by Jim Davis. She first appeared on December 17, 1980, her name was first mentioned one day later. She last appeared on June 13, 2011. Arlene appeared regularly in the strip in the 1980s but rarely appears in it now.

Arlene is Garfield's on-and-off girlfriend who can successfully crack jokes at Garfield's expense on a regular basis. She is a slim, elegant, long-tailed, pink-furred cat, with a skinny neck and distinctively big red lips, who seems to be the only one of her kind living in the world. Earlier in the strip's run, she also had a big gap between her two front teeth.

She once wished that her relationship with Garfield would take a few steps forward, but Garfield did not seem to notice. Garfield once quipped in one of the the early strips, that he and Arlene have an apparent love-hate relationship: Garfield loves himself, and Arlene hates that. Once, while Garfield was waiting for Arlene to come to a date, another beautiful cat walked up to Garfield and greeted him. At the same time, Arlene appeared, and quickly got enraged. In the next strip, Arlene called Garfield a "cad", but Garfield cleared up the misunderstanding, and Arlene forgave him.

Arlene did not appear in the animated series (as she was replaced by Penelope Pussycat), with the exception of a cameo appearance in the episode "Remote Possibilities".

In the book, "Garfield's Judgement Day", it is revealed that she is a stray cat, which she had never revealed to Garfield, until emergency situations brought it to light. She does appears in the film Garfield: The Movie voiced by Debra Messing. In the film, she is a female russian blue cat who lives in the neighborhood and dislikes Garfield because he's selfish and for locking Odie outside leading him to run away. She doesn't make an appearance in the sequel.

Asian (cat)

The Asian, also known as the Malayan, is a cat breed similar to the Burmese but in a range of different coat colours and patterns. Longhaired Asians of all varieties are called Tiffanies. Asians are grouped in the foreign section at cat shows.

Appearance
It is a medium-sized cat, with a muscular and compact body, which is devoid of fat. It has a broad and rounded chest, and slender legs. The straight tail is of medium length. The pleasantly rounded head has no flattened areas, and there is a very visible spot in profile. This gives the Asian a full-looking face. The round and wide-set eyes come in the colour of yellow.
Coat and colours
The short-haired coat of the Asian is fine, satiny, and glossy. The breed is mostly-even a solid-coloured cat. Asian Shorthairs are classified in four different varieties: the Asian Self (including the Bombay, which is a black Asian Self), the Asian Tabby, the Asian Smoke and the Burmilla (which is a shaded Asian).
Temperament
Asians are very affectionate and lovable, just like its originated brother, the Burmese. It is inquisitive, and loves to explore the house. It has a strong will. It often enjoys traveling in a cat carrier. Asians are highly vocal, and have very loud voices. Owners should note that these cats demand an owner who will pay attention to it, interact with it, and always hug and hold them frequently. This behavior is quite similar to the Burmese. The Asian is a sociable animal with familiar people, but is also sociable even towards strangers sometimes.
Health and Care
Environment
It makes a good apartment cat, especially if owners will give it safe non-poisonous house plants near the windowsill, which the cat can explore. However, it is recommended that the Asian can only live in apartments, if it does not involve the city. The Asian does not enjoy loud noises from automobiles, buses, or trucks. So if needed to live in an apartment, it must be one near a peaceful suburb. The Asian is not a city cat.
Grooming and Diet
To keep the coat clean and shiny, owners can do that by simply taking their Asian, and stroking it, while rubbing it with using either a flannel cloth, glove or chamois.
Health
This is a very long-lived and healthy cat, with very few health issues.
To keep the coat clean and shiny, owners can do that by simply taking their Asian, and stroking it, while rubbing it with using either a flannel cloth, glove or chamois.

Catwoman is a fictional character associated with DC Comics' Batman franchise. Historically a supervillain, the character was created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, partially inspired by Kane's cousin, Ruth Steel.Kane, a frequent movie goer, also mentioned that Jean Harlow was a model for the design.

The original and most widely known Catwoman, Selina Kyle, first appears in Batman #1 (Spring 1940) in which she is known as The Cat. She is an adversary of Batman, known for having a complex love-hate (often romantic) relationship with him. In her first appearance, she was a whip-carrying burglar with a taste for high-stake thefts. For many years Catwoman thrived, but from September 1954 to November 1966 she took an extended hiatus due to the newly developing Comics Code Authority in 1954. These issues involved the rules regarding the development and portrayal of female characters that were in violation of the Comics Code.

Since the 1990s, Catwoman has been featured in an eponymous series that cast her as an antihero rather than a supervillain. The character has been one of Batman's most enduring love interests. Many modern writers have also interpreted her activities and costumed identity as a response to a history of abuse.

A popular figure, Catwoman has been featured in most media adaptations related to Batman. Actresses Julie Newmar, Lee Meriwether, and Eartha Kitt introduced her to a large audience on the 1960s Batman television series and the 1966 Batman motion picture. Michelle Pfeiffer portrayed the character in 1992's Batman Returns. Halle Berry starred in a stand-alone Catwoman film in 2004, which was a box-office flop, and was not based on the Batman character. Anne Hathaway will portray Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan's upcoming Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises.

Catwoman was ranked #11 on IGN's "Top 100 Comic Book Villains of All Time" list, ranked #51 on Wizard magazine's "100 Greatest Villains of All Time" list and #20 on IGN's "Top 100 Comic Book Heroes". She was ranked 23rd in Comics Buyer's Guide's "100 Sexiest Women in Comics" list.

Chausie

History

The first hybrids of the so-called "Jungle Cat" (Felis chaus) and the domestic cat (Felis catus) may have been born in Egypt several thousand years ago. The Jungle Cat is native to a vast region spanning Southeast Asia, India, and the Middle East (Sunquist, 2002). For the most part, it is an Asian species of wild cat that lives by rivers and lakes. But the species is found in one small area of North Africa: the Nile Delta. It is well known that the ancient Egyptians kept domestic cats as pets. Literally tons of domestic cat mummies have been found interred in Egyptian temples. What is not so well known is that one other species of cat was occasionally preserved after death via mummification. That was the Jungle Cat (Malek, 1993). Felis chaus is not a timid species; they are known for moving into abandoned buildings and living as happily by irrigation canals as by wild rivers, provided that adequate prey and shrubbery for cover are available. Because domestic cats are likely to have frequently encountered Jungle Cats along the Nile and occasionally even within their owners' homes, it seems that hybrids of the two species were probably often born there (Bird, 2009).

A few people experimented with breeding Felis chaus to Felis catus in the late 1960s and 1970s. Their intention was to provide a sensible alternative to keeping nondomestic cats as pets. However, the Chausie breed did not truly begin until the 1990s, when a dedicated group of breeders named the breed "Chausie" (after Felis chaus, of course) and developed a planned breeding program and goals (see Chausie Breed Committee). These breeders asked for and received registration status from T.I.C.A. in 1995. The breed advanced through the steps of the new breed program and is expected to complete the requirements for championship status in 2012 (personal communication, January 2012, T.I.C.A. Chausie Working Breed Chair). Chausies are now being bred in both North America and Europe. The breed has begun the new breed recognition process in the World Cat Federation (W.C.F.).

Appearance and Behavior

Currently, most authentic Chausies produced are late generation cats with fully domestic temperaments. Their T.I.C.A. registration certificates will usually indicate that they are "C" generation or "SBT," which nearly always means they are four generations or more beyond the Jungle Cat (Felis chaus). In cases where they are "A" or "B" generation, it is usually because they have been recently outcrossed to another domestic breed to improve specific cosmetic traits, but the cats are nonetheless more than four generations beyond the handful of nondomestic ancestors.

Although the official, permissible outcrosses for the Chausie breed are the Abyssinian and the domestic shorthair (no recognizable breed), in practice any kind of purely domestic outcross can be used. T.I.C.A. rules only dictate that cats must be a certain number of generations removed from the Jungle Cat ancestors and have three generations of registered Chausie ancestors to be eligible for competition at shows (T.I.C.A. Registration Rules, p. 34). Consequently, a variety of breeds, albeit usually lively outgoing breeds (see below), were used to develop the Chausie breed and continue to be used occasionally as outcrosses. This has given the breed a diverse and healthy genetic foundation.

Chausies are bred to be medium to large in size, as compared to traditional domestic breeds (Chausie breed standard). Most Chausies are a little smaller than a male Maine Coon, for example, but larger than a Siamese. Adult Chausie males typically weigh 9 to 15 pounds. Adult females are usually 7 to 10 pounds. However, because Chausies are built for running and jumping, they tend to be built like basketball players. They are long-bodied and leggy. They often appear quite large, but they weigh less than one would expect.

The T.I.C.A. Chausie breed standard allows three colors: solid black, black grizzled tabby, and black (aka brown) ticked tabby. (See Chausie breed standard.) Because the Chausie breed is relatively new, Chausies are still frequently born that have a variety of other colors and patterns, and they make wonderful pets. However, only the three permissible colors are considered ideal. Only cats in the three permissible colors can be entered in new breed classes at cat shows, and only the three colors will be eligible eventually for championship classes.

Solid black Chausies may have faint tabby markings (called ghost markings) as kittens, but usually acquire a dense, even black pigmentation with maturity (T.I.C.A. Uniform Color Description, p. 6). Sometimes black grizzled tabby Chausies will appear indistinguishable from solid black Chausies when the amount of grizzling is minimal. Exposure to strong sunlight, as with most black cats, can cause black Chausies to lighten slightly and appear brownish.
Adult Chausie of the black grizzled tabby variety

Black grizzled tabbies are unique to the Chausie breed among domestic cats. The grizzled pattern comes from the Jungle Cat; it is never found in domestic cats unless they have Jungle Cat ancestors (T.I.C.A. Uniform Color Description, p. 5). The kittens are often born completely black, although occasionally they may have a bit of light colored fur on the chin or neck at birth. As the kittens get older, they begin to look more and more like tabbies. However, they are tabbies with black on black markings. That is, the background color is a sort of dark brownish black, and the markings, such as the mid-line stripe on the spine, are pure black. In addition, alternating bands of off-white appear on individual hairs in the background color. The bands are along the middle of each hair. The root of each hair is mousie gray, while the tip of each hair is black. The off-white banding or "ticking" usually appears first on the neck, chin, and belly, as well as the insides of the ears. Later, the grizzling will often extend up the sides from belly to almost the spine. In the most heavily grizzled cats, the grizzling extends over the back of the neck, on the face, and even on the legs and tail. Usually the grizzling is complete by age 3 years. The effect in the best cats is spectacular. Grizzling does have a wide range of expression, however, and some cats never have more than a few banded hairs in the ears or in one spot on the belly, occasionally not even that.
Adult Chausie of the black ticked tabby variety.

Black ticked tabby Chausies have black ticking, black stripes on the inside of the upper legs and to a lesser extent on the outside, black rings on the tail, a black tail tip, and black tabby markings around the eyes. They are also known as brown ticked tabbies because, although the markings are black, the background color is brownish. The background color can vary in hue across a large range. While Chausie breeders try to avoid producing the very reddish brown background color seen in the Abyssinian breed, they do produce everything else in the range. Background color may be reddish gold, it may be a light golden brown, warm beige, cold beige, and even a very cool light gray with just a hint of brown in it (T.I.C.A. Uniform Color Description, Brown Tabby, p. 20). The latter is a very wild looking background color. Random polygenes influence the background color. Every time a black ticked tabby kitten is born, breeders start guessing what the background color will be. But no one really knows until the cat matures.

Felis chaus by nature is a gregarious, fun-loving nondomestic species. They are the otters of the cat world. Because breeders outcrossed the foundation Jungle Cats to mostly very intelligent, outgoing breeds such as the Abyssinian and Oriental Shorthair, the result was predictable. Chausies are highly intelligent, active, athletic cats. They are often very "busy" as kittens. As adults, they are quieter, but they still retain a playfulness and intellectual curiosity lifelong. One thing to keep in mind: Chausies do not like to be alone. They need to have other cats as companions or have human company most of the time. Chausies get along well with dogs, too, and will do fine if raised with a canine buddy. Additionally, Chausies form deep bonds with people. They are extremely loyal, and may have difficulty adjusting if rehomed as adults. They need intelligent people who like living with complicated, intelligent cats (Chausie Breed Committee).

As with all nondomestic hybrid source breeds, some Chausies may inherit intestinal tracts similar to that of the nondomestic ancestors. The intestinal tract may be a little shorter than that of the traditional domestic cat. A shorter intestinal tract is thought to be less capable of processing ingredients derived from plants. That would include any kind of cereal, as well as vegetables, herbs, and spices. Those ingredients may serve as triggers for chronic intestinal inflammation and eventually lead to chronic inflammatory bowel disease that is perpetuated by multiple allergies to proteins in commercial cat food (Bird, 2009). Regardless of the cause, Chausies do seem somewhat prone to developing food allergies. To prevent this, breeders advise Chausie owners to feed only very high quality commercial cat foods, containing as little of plant-derived ingredients as possible. Some breeders advise feeding homemade raw or cooked meat diets with appropriate supplementation. However, if homemade diets are fed, it should be with the guidance of someone experienced in preparing them. Meat by itself does not contain all the nutrients that Chausies require, and modern meat processing conditions mean a high risk of contamination by potentially dangerous infectious agents.

Kurilian Bobtail Breed

The Kurilian Bobtail is a cat breed (or breed group, depending on registry) originating from the Kuril Islands, claimed by both Russia and Japan, and Sakhalin Island and the Kamchatka peninsula of Russia. Short- or long-haired, it has a semi-cobby body type and a distinct short, fluffy tail. The back is slightly arched with hind legs longer than the front, similar to those of the Manx. The breed is also called the Kuril Islands Bobtail, Kuril Bobtail (both often misspelled "Kurile") and Curilsk Bobtail, and may be referred to without "Bobtail". It is sometimes also spelled Kurilean. The original short-haired variant is a natural breed, known on the islands for over 200 years. As selectively-bred pets, they have been popular in Russia and to some extent other parts of Europe, especially for their rodent-hunting abilities, since the middle of the 20th century, but remain rare in North America as of 2011.

The variety is mostly known for its distinctive "pom-pom" kinked, short tail, medium to large, substantial, semi-cobby body, with longer hind legs that front, and a rounded-rectangular, wide face. Kurilians are not limited to any particular range of coat or eye colours.

Kurilians are recognized as a breed group of a pair related short- and [semi-]long-haired breeds by the The International Cat Association (TICA), which considers them "Advanced New Breeds" ineligible for championship status, as of November 2011) and by the Fédération Internationale Féline (FIFe). The World Cat Federation (WCF) recognizes them as a single breed.[citation needed] As of November 2011, the Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) does not recognize the breed at all.

While possibly closely related to the Japanese Bobtail breed – both share the same kind of kinked, short tail, but the Japanese is leaner, more angular and less cobby – the Kurilian originated on the complete opposite side of Eurasia from the similarly named Karelian Bobtail of western Russia and Finland, and is thus unlikely to be a near relative. Genetic studies may eventually demonstrate the breed's connection to others. Just as the Japanese Bobtail and tailless-to-short-tailed Manx arose independently on islands a world apart, the Kurilian's bobbed tail may be an isolated spontaneous mutation, that became common on the Kuril and Sakhalin islands because of the limited genetic diversity of island biogeography (an example of the founder effect and, at the sub-specific level, of the species-area curve).

Californian Rex cat breed

A rex cat is any of a number of different domestic cat breeds, distinguished by wavy or curly fur, which may be long or short, light or thick. The breeds originate from naturally occurring genetic mutations, which have since been selectively bred. There are four main internationally recognised rex breeds:

Cornish Rex
Devon Rex
LaPerm
Selkirk Rex

There are also a number of rarer, less well known or developing rex coated breeds, including the German Rex, Ural Rex,Tennessee Rex, Tasman Rex group and Skookum. Spontaneous rexed variants have also been observed in breeds such as the Maine Coon and Persian as well as in random-bred cats such as the Ohio Rex, Oregon Rex and California Rex, however there has been no significant attempt to develop or seek recognition for these varieties and most have died out. A number of experimental breeds have been developed from the main 4 rex breeds, such as the German-bred Pudelkatze (Poodle Cat), now believed to be extinct.

Rex breeds vary considerably in appearance, from the elegant slender build of the Cornish Rex to the larger, cobby and heavy-boned Selkirk Rex. Each results from a separate mutation rather than being bred from a common ancestor. Each mutation causes the hair follicles to be oval in shape, instead of the normal regular round form, which results in hairs curling round as they grow instead of growing straight. Many of the other spontaneously occurring rex mutations have occurred and some have proven to be the same gene as the main four breeds. Some of those mutations, such as the Dutch Rex, were found to have unmanageable or unattractive fur and were not pursued as breeds.

The name Rex was taken from the Rabbit Fancy because the first rex cat breed to be developed, the Cornish Rex, has a coat similar to that of a rex rabbit, in that it comprises only the undercoat with no topcoat or guard hairs.

Cyprus cat breeds

Birth of a New Cat Breed

The birth of a new cat breed is being acted out on the island where the most ancient evidence of the domestic cat was found – Cyprus. In 2001 a French archaeologists discovered a human grave that was assessed to be 9,500 years old with a pet cat next to the deceased person. The site was in Shillourokambos. Experts have decided that the domestic cat evolved from the Near Eastern wild cat some 9,500 years ago. The grave was evidence of the earliest example of cat domestication.

There is then a very long (the longest) history of domestication of the cat in Cyprus and yet they have not (until now) laid claim to their own naturally occurring purebred cat. There are many cat breeds that are exclusively linked to a country where they are said to have evolved naturally and then been“discovered” by a breeder. Having been discovered the cat was then developed into a well known and established breed. Examples are the Siamese (Siam – Thailand), Chartreux (France), British Shorthair (Britain), Japanese Bobtail, Manx and the Turkish Angora and Van to name a selection only.

It seems that the Cypriots have decided it is their turn to have their own cat but there is competition. The cat fancy worldwide has well and truly moved on from the days when the breeds above were discovered. There are many more breeders and it is more commercial.

It would seem that the chance to start a new breed that originates from the home of the domestic cat (Cyprus) is very enticing and there is competition from cat associations and/or breeders in other countries to turn two types of cat in Cyprus (presumably domestic, semi-feral and feral) into a purebred cat.

DNA testing by Davis University, California would seem to have established that there are two types of unregistered purebred cat in Cyprus and the Cypriot Feline Society would like them to be recognised as cats that are exclusively linked to Cyprus. These cat types have been called:

The Aphrodite. A breed that is is larger, stronger and taller than the other cat which has been called the
St Helena. The St Helena is smaller in size, with larger eyes but a smaller face.

Aegean Cats

Origins

The Aegean Cat originates from the Cycladic Islands in the Aegean Sea, where they occur naturally. Since it is one of the newest cat breeds, it is believed that it could be among the rarest; however, they seem to be ubiquitous throughout Greece. They are much liked for their character and intelligence. In rural areas, they are often seen as the best method of pest control, because they are very capable predators.

Aegean Cats as pets

Although the Aegean Cat has only very recently begun to be bred systematically, has been domesticated for many centuries and thus has become adapted very well to humans. It is a social pet that tolerates living in an apartment rather well. It is intelligent, active and lively and also communicative, not hesitating to draw a person's attention.

Aegean Cats characteristics

The coat of an Aegean Cat is semi-longhaired, without down hair, with a moderate ruff and a rich tail. The Aegean Cat's coat provides good protection during the harsh winter weather and sheds out short for the summer. The coat is bicolor or tricolor; one of the colors is always white, without signs of yellowing and takes up between 1/3 to 2/3 of the body. Other colors can be black, red, blue, cream, with or without stripes. The Aegean Cat is a medium-size breed, with a sturdy and muscular build, without signs of obesity. The body is long, with strong, medium-size feet and round-shaped paws. The tail is moderately long, straight, without kinks. The head is medium-size, wide but not round. The ears have a wide base and rounded tips and are covered by hairs. The eyes have an oriental shape and their color can be any shade of green.

Cat Illness - Signs of Sickness in Cats

Cats are very stoic by nature & it is up to the observant cat owner to keep a watchful eye over them & be aware of small changes to their appearance, behaviour, eating habits etc., which could indicate all is not well.

Behaviour, pain & general signs & physical signs are all important clues to your cat's general health.

Any sign that your cat is unwell requires veterinary attention. Your cat can't tell you when something is wrong so it is important for you, the carer to be observant & watch for clues, and act accordingly. What may seem to be a minor change to you may be indicative of a serious medical issue with your cat, so prompt veterinary attention is always necessary to find out what is happening.
Behaviour:

Inappropriate elimination - Inappropriate elimination can be the result of a behavioural issue or a medical problem. This is why it is extremely important to seek veterinary advice if your cat stops using the litter tray. He/she will run some tests to determine if there is a medical cause, if so it can be treated, and if it is established that it is a behavioural problem appropriate action can be taken to help your cat resolve this problem.

A cat who is urinating outside the litter tray may have a number of medical conditions such as diabetes mellitus, kidney failure, FLUTD, urinary tract infection.

Increased/decreased thirst & or appetite - There are many possible reasons why your cat may be eating or drinking more or less, some of which include:

Increased thirst could indicate diabetes mellitus, pyometra, hyperthyroidism. Increased appetite could be caused by hyperthyroidism.

Loss of appetite could be caused by an abscess, anaemia, dehydration, injury or trauma, intestinal obstruction, dental or mouth pain (gingivitis, tooth abscess, stomatitis etc.) or other disorders.

Increased vocalisation - This may be caused by stress, fear, estrus or an underlying medical problem. It is often seen in older cats & can be indicative of pain, sickness, loss of cognitive functions or another medical problem.

Hiding - If your usually outgoing cat suddenly takes to hiding it could have been brought about by fear, anxiety or an underlying medical cause.

Sleeping habits - Sleeping more & lethargy often a sign that something is wrong with your cat.

Change in routine or general behaviour - If your cat usually greets you when you come home from work, but abruptly stops this it could be a sign that something is wrong with kitty. Is your cat suddenly spending a lot of time in the litter tray, no longer harassing you for food first thing on a morning, or harassing you for food when it hadn't in the past? Any change, no matter how minor could be a result of a medical condition.
General & Physical Signs:

Coat appearance - Cats are by nature fastidiously clean & spend a great deal of their day grooming. Poor coat condition can be caused by a multitude of problems, from parasites to malnutrition to skin disorders (such as ringworm, fleas, allergies). The older cat may have problems maintaining it's grooming regime due to pain caused by conditions such as arthritis or obesity.

Bad breath - Also known as halitosis, bad breath in cats is not normal & could be a sign of kidney disease, diabetes mellitus, liver disease, tooth abscess, periodontal disease, intestinal problems, cancers of the mouth.

Difficulty going to the toilet - If your cat is straining to go to the toilet, or only passing a small amount of urine, going to the toilet often or licking the genital area frequently these symptoms could be the following; FLUTD (which is a medical emergency), bladder stones, tumours, diabetes mellitus, kidney disease or constipation.

Blood in urine (hematuria) - Bladder stones, urinary tract infection, cancer, trauma can all be causes of blood in urine.

Weight loss or gain - There are many causes of weight loss or gain. Weight loss could be caused by diabetes mellitus, hyperthyroidism, malnutrition, kidney failure or any chronic illness.

Pain - Cats are very good at hiding pain from their carers & each cat will have a different pain threshold. There are countless causes of pain in cats, which is why it is important to seek veterinary advice as soon as possible to find out the cause.

Discharge - Discharge from the eyes & nose could be indicative of a bacterial or viral infection, or foreign body. Discharge from the genitals could indicate pyometra.

Ataxia (unsteady gait): Possible causes include poisoning, neurological disorder, ear infection, spinal trauma, pelvis fracture, brain trauma.

Abnormal breathing - Heart failure, asthma, lung disease. Panting could be a sign of hyperthermia (heat stroke).

Eyes - Are the pupils both the same size? Shine a light in them, do they become smaller or stay fixed? Either scenario is a medical emergency & could indicate head trauma, seek veterinary attention immediately.

Check the eyes for discharge, this could indicate a foreign body, eye infection or upper respiratory tract infection.

Appearance of the third eyelid (also known as haw) is another indicator that something is wrong with your cat. This could be a sign of dehydration, illness or injury.
Appraising the situation:

Gum colour - The normal colour is pink. Pale to white gums may indicate shock or anaemia. Blue gums indicate not enough oxygen, yellow gums indicate liver problems, bright red can indicate carbon monoxide poisoning or heatstroke.

Dehydration - To check for dehydration grasp some skin at the base of their neck (the scruff) and gently pull it up. In the hydrated cat, the skin will spring back immediately. In a dehydrated cat, the skin will be slower to retract. The more severe the dehydration the slower the skin will take to retract.

Capillary Refill Time (CRT) - This helps you to test your cat's blood circulation & can indicate dehydration, heart failure or shock. To test capillary refill time lift your cat's upper lip & press the flat of your finger against the gum tissue. Remove the pressure & you will see a white mark on the gum where your finger was placed. Using a watch with a second hand, time how long it takes for the pink colour to return to the white spot. In the healthy cat it should take around 1 - 2 seconds to return to pink.
Important:

This article has been written to provide a guide to what to look for in regards to signs of sickness, some signs include possible causes. It has not been written by a veterinarian & shouldn't be used to replace veterinary advice. This is by no means meant to be for diagnostic purposes, most symptoms of sickness have multiple possible causes, many of which aren't included in this article. Therefore it is imperative that you seek proper veterinary attention if you see you suspect your cat is unwell. You should NEVER make an medical diagnosis based on what you read on the Internet, only an examination performed by a qualified veterinarian can give you a definite diagnosis so please, if you believe your cat is unwell, seek proper medical care immediately.

jaguar

Jaguar Cars Ltd, known simply as Jaguar,is a British luxury car manufacturer, headquartered in Whitley, Coventry, England. It is part of the Jaguar Land Rover business, a subsidiary of the Indian company Tata Motors.

Jaguar was founded as the Swallow Sidecar Company by Sir William Lyons in 1922, originally making motorcycle sidecars before developing passenger cars. The name was changed to Jaguar after WWII to avoid the unfavourable connotations of the SS initials. Following a merger with the British Motor Corporation in 1968, subsequently subsumed by Leyland, which itself was later nationalised as British Leyland, Jaguar was listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1984, and became a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index until it was acquired by Ford in 1989.Jaguar has, in recent years, manufactured cars for the Prime Minister, the most recent delivery being a XJ model on 11 May 2010.The company also holds royal warrants from HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Charles.

Jaguar cars today are designed in Jaguar Land Rover's engineering centres at the Whitley plant in Coventry and at their Gaydon site in Warwickshire, and are manufactured in Jaguar's Castle Bromwich assembly plant near Birmingham.

What do pumas look like? not like shoe !!

Most pumas are a light brown color, with black-tipped ears and tail. The pumas that live closest to the Equator are the smallest, and increase in size in populations closer to the poles. (This sort of size increase is seen in tigers too. The smallest ones live in the tropics, the largest Siberian tigers live far to the north where winters are very cold.) The endangered Florida Panther is the smallest of the Pumas. Like many other cats, they can retract their sharp claws into their paws, which have four toes. The largest male pumas can be as big as eight feet (2.4 meters) long, and females can be as large as seven feet (2.1 meters). The males weigh in a bit less than the average adult human at about 150 pounds (70 kilograms), with females weighing even less at 75 pounds (35 kilograms) or less.

Although pumas do not have a bright pattern, there are distinct black "tearstains" on their upper lips and a vivid white fur around the mouth that emphasizes facial expressions. Although cougars cannot roar, when they growl their "business end" looks rather intimidating, helped along by the markings.

Where do pumas live

Pumas are widely spread in North, Central and South America. They can be seen in a variety of habitats including deserts, swamps and forests from northern British Columbia all the way down to the southern end of the Andes mountain range. Pumas were driven out of the eastern half of North America by human pressure; a small population remains in Florida and occasionally there are puma sightings in other eastern states.
